2018 MCA Testing

All staff involved in testing must:

  1. Complete MED and district required trainings for your testing role
  2. Be knowledgeable bout all policies and procedures for test administration
  3. Promptly report any violations of the prescribed administration conditions, including test security breaches, to the appropriate administrator at the school or to the District Assessment Coordinator.
  4. Follow the district-determined testing calendar, provided it does not conflict with state testing windows.
  5. Administer all tests in strict accordance with the instructions contained in the MDE Procedures Manual as well as the other resources and guides.
  6. Follow security policies and procedures for distribution and return of secure test materials, accounting for all secure test materials before, during, and after testing.

Parents opting their child out of statewide testing must provided with Parent Guide to Statewide Testing and complete the Refusal for Student Participation form:

All proctors must complete a roster of adults and students for each testing session - here. This form will also be included in your proctor folder.

Student directions are now embedded in the MCA test! Students will automatically watch the directions when they log into their first test.

MCA Testing
All students must watch the student tutorials prior to taking their MCA test. These online tutorials provide students with information on how to use online tools, navigate through the online test and answer different item types. Click the links below to access the tutorials.

Prior to student test sessions, familiarize yourself with the proctor script below and follow the script as written in each testing session.

Test Monitor (Proctor)Directions

As a reminder, all test proctors must follow the MDE requirements listed below, as well as all security guidelines presented in the security training and listed in the Administration Manual:

  • Be trained in test security and test administration policies and procedures through annual district training and complete any test-specific required trainings.
  • Adhere to cell phone policy which states students and staff may not use cell phones in the testing room.
  • Report any instances of test security violations to the School and District Assessment Coordinators.
  • Actively monitor students during all test sessions.
  • Allow only people involved in taking or administering the test in the room.
  • Communicate with your School or District Assessment Coordinator if you have any questions about testing.

All staff involved with MCA testing must complete the online training modules to comply with MDE policies. All training is now tracked electronically by user through the Pearson Training Management System (TMS). Please click the link below to begin your training. Choose the Test Monitor tab if you will be proctoring a test and/or creating and managing test sessions.

All staff who administer any state tests must have a signed Assurance of Test Security and Non-Disclosure Agreement (ATSNDA) on file with the district. The Minnesota Department of Education requires a new ATSNDA annually, and all signed copies must be retained in the district for 2 years. This document can be signed electronically through the Test Management System above, or on the paper version in the link below. Please turn your signed copy in to your School Test Coordinator.
